55 Upper Maen Cottage

Maenporth

Property Description

Number 55 Upper Maen Cottage is a homely apartment with plenty of individual touches. It's in a great location - close to the estate's leisure facilities, a few minutes' walk from the beach and just a short drive into the busy seaside town of Falmouth. It's decorated throughout in neutral shades which lends an airy feel and acts as a perfect canvas for the artwork and beachy decorations.

Parking is next to the property. Once inside you'll immediately see some quirky nautical wall hangings. There's a shower room and toilet leading off from here, tiled in a rich brown, which will help avoid the queues in the morning. Straight on and you'll find the large, spacious living and dining area. There's one squashy, fawn sofa and two armchairs, plus a footstool and a scattering of soft cushions for total wind-down at the end of a long day on the water. The cool, blue, wavy rug will remind you of the sea.

The dining area is close to the kitchen - it's traditional pine and there's plenty of room for everyone to relax during a lazy evening meal. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for the family for a week or two. It's a calm space - glossy white cupboards and biscuit-brown tiles make for relaxing food preparation.

Upstairs and you'll find the master bedroom, decorated in cream, with warm pine furniture. It's designed to be a tranquil space and certainly succeeds. There's a twin room, and the third bedroom has a set of sturdy bunks. The family bathroom, once again tiled in rich brown, has both a bath and overhead shower to suit everybody's needs. There are heated towel rails in both bathrooms to keep your swimming towels warm and dry. And as an added extra, we now supply each guest with one bath and one hand towel, free of charge.

Back downstairs and out of the French doors, you'll find yourself on the tiled terrace with access to the garden. It's a south-facing space so lovely and sunny for enjoying your afternoon Cornish Cream Tea - jam first though, please, as we're Cornish.

For bookings of one week and over, we'll have a hamper of red wine, Taylors filter coffee, Smugglers tea, milk and a sample of Cornish biscuits ready for your arrival.

You have 29 acres of established woodland to explore, plus full use of the leisure centre, including the heated, indoor swimming pool. There's a returnable £100 deposit against damages on this property.

Location

The Maenporth Estate is just two miles from Falmouth and overlooks the beautiful Maenporth Beach. It’s a private complex with a coded entrance gate, making it safe and secure for all guests.

Set in 29 acres of natural woodland, with stunning views of the cove, it’s a perfect base for family holidays. You'll find two all-weather tennis courts, a children's play area, and, of course, the Leisure Centre where we have our indoor, heated pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. There are pool and table tennis tables - all free of charge.

The famous award-winning Cove Restaurant is on site, or if you'd prefer something simple, try the Life's a Beach Cafe - you guessed it, on Maenporth beach, for fresh crab sandwiches or a Cornish clotted cream ice-cream. Two miles along the coast and you'll come across Helford Passage and the wonderful Ferryboat Inn which specialises in serving local seafood dishes. From here you can catch the foot ferry across to Helford Village, or hire a rowing boat or paddle board for the afternoon.

Maenporth’s a sheltered cove with shallow waters, making it perfect for all kinds of family beach activities: the little ones will love paddling, splashing daddy, and clambering through rock pools. There’s plenty of sand, piles of pebbles for sand castle building, and beautiful clear water for swimming.

Arvor Sea Kayaking offer guided kayaking trips throughout the year, and Cornwall Divers will take you on a scuba diving course from the beach! And, at low tide, you may spot the famous Scottish trawler, Ben Asdale, that was wrecked off the Maenporth coast on 30th December 1978.

The nearest town is Falmouth - the third largest natural harbour in the world - take a boat trip along the Carrick Waters to a smuggler's cottage, or hop on the ferry to St Mawes. Visit the Maritime Museum, great for children with its hands-on approach. Catch some Grand Medieval Jousting at Pendennis Castle. Or simply sit with a cold glass of white wine and watch the boats glide by.

Whatever you choose to do, you’ll be sure to unwind from the stresses of life, and simply relax…
