Maenporth Estate

The Maenporth Estate is a private gated estate set in 29 acres of parkland and woods, 2 miles south of the port and resort of Falmouth, set on a headland overlooking a cove with a large sandy beach. There is an indoor swimming pool with spa and sauna, plus 2 all-weather tennis courts. At beach level there is a choice of the award winning Cove Restaurant or Life’s a Beach café. Direct access to the coastal footpath. Falmouth golf course is just 1 mile away.

Helford River

Helford Passage is a mile from the village of Mawnan Smith. It’s in a sheltered cove on the Helford Estuary, with a lovely sandy beach adjacent rock pools and direct access onto the coastal path. The Ferryboat Inn overlooks the beach and specialises in local seafood. There is an outdoor pool for residents, and boat hire with a passenger ferry to Helford village and the Shipwrights Arms.

Spend the week in Falmouth – the third largest natural harbour in the world. Take a boat trip along the Carrick Waters to a smuggler’s cottage, or hop on the ferry to St Mawes. Visit the Maritime Museum, great for children with its hands-on approach. Catch some Medieval jousting at Pendennis Castle. Or simply sit with a cold glass of white wine and watch the boats glide by.

Porthallow, meaning Port at the end of the Moor, is a small, tucked away village on the east coast on the Lizard peninsula. It was once a busy fishing port, famous for its thriving pilchard fleet – in fact the old pilchard cellars can still be seen on the pebbly beach, alongside brightly coloured fishing boats and lobster pots. It’s traditional Cornwall, perfect for cliff-walking and bird-watching, or simply relaxing and getting away from the general stresses of life.
