Both bedrooms have also had a complete refit including carpets, beds and furniture.

With the advantage of no steps, you’ll find an open-plan living and dining area with a well-equipped kitchen. The balcony has a wonderful view over the sea, with a table and chairs for al-fresco dining. There’s even a small breakfast bar if one of you needs to catch up on emails whilst the family watch a film.

Maenporth is an exclusive, secluded resort overlooking a beautiful sheltered cove, but close to the bustling port town of Falmouth, with its historical associations. The countryside around here is glorious: perfect for those who enjoy peace and quiet, the coast, and the great outdoors.  The houses that comprise the resort are sheltered by established trees, and there’s a good restaurant and bar overlooking the family friendly beach where guests can unwind, enjoy some good food and watch the world go by. The resort has a large indoor heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, 2 tennis courts, pool and table tennis tables, and a children’s play area. There are plenty of scenic walks along the South West Coastal Path for those who want the exercise, and the sandy beach will keep adults and children endlessly entertained. It’s a great destination for families or couples all year round.

Please note, the tennis courts are currently closed for essential maintenance and aim to be open for May Half Term.

Bathroom with walk in shower, hand basin, WC and heated towel rail.

Balcony area overlooking the beach with garden table and chairs.

The Maenporth Estate is just two miles from Falmouth and overlooks the beautiful Maenporth Beach. It’s a private complex with a coded entrance gate, making it safe and secure for all guests. Set in 29 acres of natural woodland, with stunning views of the cove, it’s a perfect base for family holidays. You'll find two all-weather tennis courts, a children's play area, and a Leisure Centre with an indoor heated pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. There are pool and table tennis tables - all free of charge.

The famous, award-winning Cove Restaurant is located just behind the beach, or if you'd prefer something simple, try Life's a Beach Cafe for fresh crab sandwiches or a Cornish clotted cream ice-cream. Two miles along the coast and you'll come across Helford Passage and the wonderful Ferryboat Inn which specialises in local seafood dishes. From here you can catch the foot ferry across to Helford Village, or hire a rowing boat or paddle board for the afternoon.

Maenporth is a sheltered cove with shallow waters, making it perfect for all kinds of family beach activities: the little ones will love paddling and clambering through rock pools. There’s plenty of sand and piles of pebbles for sand castle building, and beautiful clear water for swimming. Arvor Sea Kayaking offer guided kayaking trips throughout the year, and Cornwall Divers will take you on a scuba diving course from the beach! And, at low tide, you may spot the famous Scottish trawler, Ben Asdale, that was wrecked off the Maenporth coast on 30th December 1978.

The nearest town is Falmouth - the third largest natural harbour in the world. From here, take a boat trip along the Carrick Waters or hop on the ferry to St Mawes. Visit the National Maritime Museum, great for children with its hands-on approach, or catch some Grand Medieval Jousting at Pendennis Castle. Or simply sit with a cold glass of white wine in one of the waterside bars and watch the boats glide by.

Whatever you choose to do, a holiday in Maenporth offers the perfect opportunity to unwind from the stresses of everyday life and relax on the south Cornish coast.

April 2024

We love Life's a beach, fantastic location, great food and coffee, really friendly staff.

October 2023

Life's a Beach is on the top ten of my favourite places in the world. The setting is glorious, right on the beach with coastal walks available in both directions and it's open 7 days a week. The menu is perfect (in my book) and the food much more delicious than you might expect from a beach cafe. My only criticism is that it isn't open 24 hours a day!

May 2023

Excellent pub - great food and service would pop in again.

October 2021

The staff were brilliant but the food was just average, I'm afraid. We would not be likely to go there again.

June 2021

We ate here in the first couple of days of our stay. The staff were very friendly, as were the 'locals' and there is a good choice of seating areas and a varied menu. Food quality was very good and the service was prompt, all at a fair price. Would definitely go back. The Boar burger was lush !!

August 2019

We ate in The Red Lion and found the food to be well cooked and a decent portion. Service was prompt and well worth a visit.

We would love to visit Glendurgan, but cannot do so until they become dog-friendly. In contrast, Trebah gardens nearby allow dogs and they do not appear to cause any problems.

Beautiful gardens. Enjoyable walk down the gully to the village and beach. Then the steep walk back! Lovely sub tropical plants, nice cafe at the top

May 2022

Beautiful gardens with lovely cafe and second hand bookshop.

October 2021

Gardens have been kept lovely but unfortunately there were staff shortages so long queues for food or ice cream. There were no plants to buy this year but that is hardly surprising. The staff all worked very hard to make the visit pleasant. They deserve a medal!

Fantastic beach

April 2024

Lovely and clean, beautiful.

October 2023

Absolutely loved Maenporth. Lovely sheltered beach with fantastic cafe

August 2023

Lovely beach but early morning dog owners do not on occasion clean up on their dogs. We had to borrow a shovel on two occasions to clear the mess

August 2023

If you think this will be a quiet, hidden gem then you’d couldn’t be more wrong. It’s a very busy, active beach with lots to do and changing tides. We felt very blessed to be staying so close so we didn’t have to arrive super early to get a car parking space. Loved how safe it felt most of time, except when the fog came rolling in as fast as a wave! Enjoyed paddling, swimming, rock-pooling, playing with local dogs (after hours), someone built an incredible pyramid sandcastle which the kids and adults enjoyed.

August 2023

This beach is beautiful! Not too busy and everything is within a short distance.

July 2023

My favourite beach. Sunrise from here is something else!

April 2023

Used the beach but time off visit big waves so paddle boarding out off the question but had great fun on the body boards. Not a crowed beach parking prices reasonable, parking right on the beach .

September 2022

Lovely beach our third year in a row. The only problem which is not unique to this beach, is weaver fish. I do think visitors need to be made more aware of the adviseability of wearing beach shoes to protect against this problem. I think all beaches should have signs to this effect.

August 2022

Mix of sand and shingle beach. Quite a bit of seaweed when we were there but of the lettuce type so not too problematic. Not much in the way of waves so not good for body boarding but good for paddle boards or kayaks and swimming. Nice little take out cafe.

August 2022

Lovely beach and so convenient to Maenporth Estate. Shame about the seaweed that arrived! But beautiful nonetheless.

August 2022

Lovely beach

July 2022

Wonderful beach, very clean. Lovely view , didn’t use coffee shop so can’t comment.

June 2022

A lovely, perfect beach, ideal for everyone and great for rock pooling. Really clean too.

June 2022

Beautiful...although it did say no dogs, and there were plenty!

June 2022

Love this beach never tire of the view

October 2021

Lovely 'out of the way' beach with great outlook. Can be a bit 'smelly' when the tide it out in the lagoon nearby but does not distract from the beach or surrounds.

September 2021

Beautiful beach a hidden gem

September 2021

Great beach with a mix of sand and stones. Interesting caves when the tide is out. The tide goes out quite far so a bit of a walk to the sea but great for kids and adults alike.

September 2021

Lovely secluded beach -safe for children and doing water sports. Cafe and toilets nearby. Only downside no tap to wash sand off feet.

September 2021

Beautiful

September 2021

A bustling and busy sandy beach offering water sports and swimming and yet without the crowds of other parts of Cornwall. The coastal walks from there are glorious too.

September 2021

Great beach.

August 2021

Love this beach. It’s just stunning. Definitely returning.

August 2021

This is a great beach for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, exploring caves and rock pooling. Clean clear water, easy car parking and toilets plus a little cafe.

July 2021

Nice beach but disappointed that many dogs were running free on it. Witnessed several dogs pooing on the beach. This is supposed to be a dog free beach from Easter to October and I visited in June. Does no one police this blatant ignoring of the rules?!!

July 2021

Lovely Sandy beach with great cafe, toilets, parking and coast paths to enjoy.

July 2021

Fantastic holiday in a beautiful location. The holiday home was spacious, clean & the whole site was Covid friendly. We chose this holiday as we felt it was the safest option during these difficult times and everything about it came up to & beyond our expectations. My granddaughter especially enjoyed using the children's playground & indoor pool. The booking procedure and use of the swimming pool was ideal. Well organised. Many, many thanks. We came home feeling relaxed after a great week.

September 2020

Best beach in the area, its like been on a Greek island when the sun is shining

September 2020

Better beach than Swan pool, ideal for young children, gently sloping, perfect for water sports

August 2020

Really convenient if staying at maenporth estate. Mix of sand, shingle and rocks. Great for rock pooling. Calm sea so safe for families and watersports such as paddle boarding and kayaking. Wasn't overcrowded even when very warm!

August 2020

Beautiful quiet cove idyllic spot

July 2020

great beach complete with smugglers cave

November 2019

Lovely beach with decent facilities, but beach needs regular cleaning even after bank Holiday week

September 2019

This is a fabulous family friendly beach as it is quite sheltered. A great place to paddle board, relax and eat ice cream! You do need to get there early as the car park and beach fills up really quickly. I would also recommend beach shoes as several people were stung by weaver fish who were hiding in the sand as the tide went out. Definitely worth a visit ????

August 2019

Perfect beach

June 2019

Lovely beach ,best off season.

June 2019

A beautiful beach and wonderful setting.

Nansidwell Beach (Woodlands Beach)
(Less than a mile)

Found between Maenporth and Mawnan Smith, this is a small, pretty sandy beach with some shingle and rocks accessed by footpath from the road. It’s a five to ten minute walk, meaning the beach itself is often quiet and uncrowded with lovely swimming. No amenities though and the walk isn’t suitable for buggies or those with limited mobility. Also known as Woodlands Beach. Dogs allowed all year round.

Bream Cove
(Less than a mile)

A pretty sheltered cove in a secluded setting surrounded by low cliffs and woodland, Bream Cove consists of a sand and shingle beach dipping down to clear water with excellent swimming and snorkelling.  At low water rock pools are exposed which children will love to explore and it’s possible to scramble over the rocks to the sandy beach next door at Gatamala Cove. There are no facilities here and no car park, but there are parking spaces on the nearby road between Maenporth and Rosemullion Head close to the Meuden Hotel, with access to the beach via footpath. Dogs welcome all year.

A lovely beach but does get a bit crowded sometimes. Parking can be a problem in busy times too.

September 2021

Even in the middle of what has been one of the busiest summers cornwall has seen, this still offered space and attractions without the crowds. Loved being able to take the dog for a swim before 10am and after 6pm

September 2021

Lovely beach and costal walk

September 2020

Lovely beach, not fine sand but ideal for Kayaking and paddleboarding

August 2023

It was our first time in Cornwall and will be coming back. Information you provided in the brochure was fantastic, the peacefulness and cleanliness of the estate was wonderful. Had a great week.

We're so sorry you experienced some cleanliness issues whilst at Ridges 4. This is entirely down to us and shouldn't reflect on the property. We have communicated privately about this and hope we have reached a reasonable outcome. Many thanks for helping us to improve.

- The Toad Hall Team

July 2023

Lovely welcome pack, loads of towels, fantastic views from the verandah, peaceful, very clean and well maintained Maenporth Estate, apart from the lack of loo rolls(ha ha) absolutely lovely.

That's definitely positive feedback for Ridges 4 and for the estate itself! Regarding loo rolls, it is standard practice for self-catering cottages to pop one in to get you started. Hope that helps for next time! Thanks so much - we appreciate the assessment!

- The Toad Hall Team

June 2023

Super location the view from the balcony was beautiful, the estate and grounds were lovely and impressed with the leisure centre. Have recommended this holiday to our family and friends Looking forward to our next holiday in September, in the railway carriage nr Minehead, with ToadHall.

Thanks so much! And I hope you like the railway carriage just as much - I'd like to holiday there myself!

- The Toad Hall Team

May 2023

This was my 4th stay at the Ridges and love every minute of being there. This was the first time I was very surprised that down behind the little unit in the double room there was make up wipes . Sinnott saw this as I dropped something down the back and has to move it to retrieve it . Didn’t look like it’s been pulled out for a good while .

I'm so sorry you were left to retrieve the make up wipes. Sometimes, our cleaning teams do miss things, but thanks for letting us know; I'll give them a nudge this week.

- The Toad Hall Team

March 2023

Yes! We appreciated all the efforts of the owner to improve the property, and we enjoyed our stay very much.

October 2022

Excellent property apart from comments re shower

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I'm so sorry you experienced poor water pressure in the shower. The whole bathroom is due for a re-fit this winter. I'm sure you'll notice a difference should you make a return visit.

October 2022

We always enjoy our stay at maenporth. We have been visiting since the site opened.

And it's always a pleasure to see you, Mrs P! We look forward to seeing you again next year!

- The Toad Hall Team

September 2022

We enjoyed our stay as we love Maenporth and the Estate but felt that while our bedroom was nicely finished, the bathroom and living areas were tired and a little shabby. Didn’t really feel value for money. View of beach was lovely from the balcony as a positive. Tv kept dropping out in the evenings on some channels which was frustrating.

September 2022

Balcony in need of cleaning.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. We do carry out remedial work over the winter months as properties are in need of some tlc by this time of the year

- The Toad Hall Team

July 2022

Yes we loved the view and the whole of Meanporth estate was very well maintained. Its a great area for a holiday, fantastic beach and lovely walks. We had a great holiday and overall very happy with the property.

Thanks so much for your review and comments regarding the shower - the bathroom is due to be refurbished this winter. I do hope you'll return to take advantage of that!

We agree! So pleased you enjoyed your holiday with us and hope to welcome you back in the future!

April 2022

We had a wonderful stay thank you . The apartment was spotless and has a wonderful view. I did add a little leaflet about the local donkey sanctuary as they are self funding and not a charity….as there was not really in the book showing the place. It’s a great place for children to go and only 2 miles away. Thank you again and see you in June Allie and Joyce

I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed your week with us! We have the Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary on our Bucket and Spade List in the Welcome Folder - we all love it there too! Look forward to seeing you again in June!

Yes. We enjoyed our stay enormously and I will be booking again A plate rack for the draining board so that it’s easier to wash up by hand

Many thanks for your assessment. That's a great idea, we'll see what we can do to resolve this!

Yes we had a lovely time. It was nice to use the pool abs tennis courts. And when we had a problem with damp bedding it was sorted really quickly which was great .

I'm so pleased you enjoyed your holiday. Our apologies about the duvet - we should have picked this up before arrival. Many thanks for your constructive comments about the heat of the water - that's really useful to know!

Loved it! Unfortunately we couldn't get into any Restaurant's locally so should have booked before we went away but we didn't think of it as last year in Cornwall we just booked on the day.

So pleased you loved the new styling in Ridges 4 and had a great holiday. Pre-booking restaurants has been an issue in Cornwall due to Covid. Hopefully, all will back to normal next year. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed!!

Enjoyed the stay very much and would return but felt kitchen could be better equipped ie. More wine glasses, mugs and microwave containers.

Many thanks for this. To be fair, there isn't a huge amount of storage space in the smaller apartments, so we never over-fill the kitchen cupboards, but we will double-check all of these things on Saturday; it may be that some glassware has been broken.

We really enjoyed staying at Ridges 4 and would like you to pass on our thanks to the owner for giving us the opportunity to stay there. We would also like to say thank you for the lovely welcome pack and cute bag and also for the ease of booking and communication with yourselves. We had an amazing time and I would happily return to Ridges 4 and/or book through you again.

That's such lovely feedback - thanks so much! I've taken on board your suggestions and amended the description to include the double bed, rather than king-size. Many thanks for bringing it to my attention!

We liked the view and site facilities however the standard of the flat was well under what we assumed from the pictures on the website.

We're so sorry you were disappointed, and have sent you a separate email. Properties are starting to show signs of wear and tear after being fully occupied for the past 16 weeks. Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a pleasure to return to our accommodation at the end of a busy day sightseeing. The apartment was very clean overall, and had all the amenities. Beds were slightly hard for us, but bedding was very clean and lovely big towels provided. Good parking facilities, well kept grounds. The sea view was excellent. From booking to leaving, communication was excellent via email. Price for accommodation was very good and well worth the money. Location of the resort was perfect, very central on the south coastline, easy access to Newquay, truro, Falmouth and St Austell. Visited the cove restaurant a few times, which is only about 150yds away, lovely food and ambiance. Beautiful walks along the coast, wish I was still there.

We loved the location and the views. Toad Hall cottages staff were very helpful, especially on a busy changeover day.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We agree; the views from the balcony are just lovely!

Yes we loved our stay as we love Maenporth estate. View from balcony was stunning and it was great there was an umbrella on balcony.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I'm so pleased you enjoyed another stay on the Estate. I'm sorry you were disappointed with the cleaning. Spiders are pesky little things! We'll make sure we do better for your next visit.

Location is excellent, the view is special from the property and is good to get to falmouth, st ives, newquay etc. Kitchen is modern with good cooker, hob, fridge/freezer etc. The furnishings of the property are a little dated and the shower pressure is particularly poor along with temperature control. Remote controlled ceiling fans are useful in the bedrooms. Not a "luxury property" but good if you're using it as a base to explore. couldn't explore facilities as covid restrictions but restaurant was very good. If you're going to spend a lot of time in the property, I'd probably recommend elsewhere.

We had a wonderful time and being allowed to stay the extra night was very kind of you. I would highly recommend your company to everyone, the apartment and Maenporth complex too.

That's wonderful news! Thank you so much. We always try to go that extra mile to help our guests have a wonderful stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the future!

February 2019

29th September 2018 - What a beautiful location, the views from the apartment were to die for. On arrival we were met with a welcome bag of goodies. The place was well looked after. Everything you needed was thought of down to dishwasher tablets and washing tablets for washer dryer. There was a wind break for taking to the beach and boogie boards for kids. Everything you would need that would save you having to drag along with you. They had beautiful white towels for everyone. There is a beautiful pool and jacuzzi just around the corner and table tennis and pool table for kids. My only fault with the place we stayed was when we arrived it felt very damp. The beds felt damp as if they hadn’t been aired and they had the thickest quilts on them, it made it impossible to sleep. We tried to put on radiator in bedroom but it started to smell like it was burning so had to turn off immediately. I think there should be a facility were you can get lighter quilts as still very warm in September and no need for heavy quilts.

We do appreciate that there was some damp in the two bedrooms of Ridges 4, and this is being looked in to over the winter.
